Theraputic Riding

Horses make great therapists thus Healing Hearts. They are good for the mind and the body.

Horses Identify with people’s feelings and react to their needs by responding gently and without judgment.  Horses are honest teachers about relationships and problem-solving by giving the person command and at the same time establishing healthy boundaries of control.

For those who feel trapped in circumstances beyond their control – the soft nuzzle of a horse, the triumph of mastering the ride, the simple joy and confidence of a horse’s gait can restore trust and reintegrate the mind and body.

For women and children who have been physically, sexually, and/or emotionally abused, horses make great therapist. Horses offer a way to build self-esteem and reconnection both physically and emotionally. We offer lessons to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s Syndrome, other developmental delays and people with emotional and “life” problems. A physician’s release is required to participate in  our therapy sessions when there is a physical disability. Many children benefit from joining the TaPs Riding Club. When the services of a professional counselor are needed, your insurance carrier may cover the costs of this service.

For people with physical handicaps, we recommend you contact Equest Therapeutic Horsmanship (located between Rowlett and Wylie) as they are better suited to handle special physical needs.
